This week’s question is “How can you give up attachment, today?”

So, let’s start by defining ‘attachment…’

attachment
/əˈtaCHmənt/
noun

1. A condition or feeling of ‘not wanting’ to be separated. 

Ex: Give up ‘attachment,’ because you’re never separate from anyone or anything!

If you’re upset, you’re attached. 

If you’re trying to control an outcome, you’re attached.

How can you give up ‘attachment,’ today?

  • Say, “I’m attached.”
    Admit it!
  • Breathe…
  • Distinguish the thoughts you’re attached to…
    Ex: “I hate my job. I don’t want to be here.”
    These thoughts are making you upset. 
  • Give up these thoughts, today!
You’re free…

Feel your feelings! Get them out, in a healthy way…

Give up your thoughts about…

  • Give up your thoughts about feelings…
  • Give up your thoughts about thoughts…
  • Give up your thoughts about your projects…
  • Give up your thoughts about people…
  • Give up your thoughts about work…
  • Give up your thoughts about daily life…
  • Give up your thoughts about errands…
  • Give up your thoughts about weekends…
  • Give up your thoughts about laundry…
Give up your thoughts about whatever…and just live your life.

Example:

You’re upset about something. You’re thinking “I hate my job, I don’t want to be here.”  
Give up these thoughts, immediately!

Give up your thoughts, and simply experience it. Also, notice whether or not you’re attached to your feelings of frustration, anger, or fear. Give up your thoughts about ‘how you “feel” about it,’ ‘what you think about it…’ Give up your thoughts, as if they were attached to a balloon, floating up into the sky!
