Weekly Question: “How can you ‘advocate for yourself,’ today?”

Weekly Intention: Nurture

“Know Yourself. Know what you need. Know how to get it.”
Nancy Suzanne James

How… can you be ‘advocate for yourself,’ today?

  • Care for yourself…
    *Meet your needs…
    *Honor your thoughts and feelings…
*Listen to your thoughts, early in the morning, and right before you fall asleep.
    *Make a list…
  • Make your own decisions, based on your personal values.
  • Build strong connections…
    *Communicate, forgive, connect, and enjoy!
  • Work towards specific goals and take them very seriously. 🙂
*If you respect yourself and your goals, so too will other people.
  • Speak up for yourself. 🙂
    *Be kind and gentle…
  • Meditate
  • Take good physical care of your body and mind, especially before you communicate.
  • Listen…it is important. It’s a crucial part of communication. 🙂
  • Breathe deeply…
  • Accept that things are inconsistent, sometimes.
  • Accept that you may not understand your thoughts and feelings.
  • Again, breathe… and know there is a lot you don’t know.
  • Enjoy!

Ask yourself, “How can I ‘advocate for myself,’ today?”
Then, live from the question and see what unfolds…

Once you’ve sufficiently advocated for yourself, advocate for someone else. 🙂

Yearly Notes

The question is “How… can you ‘advocate for yourself,’ today?”

So, let’s start with defining ‘advocate…

1. Recognize, respect, cherish and communicate your thoughts and needs (whatever they are).

Ex: She advocated for herself, by expressing her thoughts and needs ~ after exercising and meditating. She knew her thoughts were genuine, because they were intuitive: they came to her early in the morning, as she was waking up and late at night just before falling asleep.

Let’s continue by defining ‘yourself…’

1. You personally.

About The Yoga Book

The Yoga Book

The Yoga Book is a personal yoga diary! It is a book for your thoughts and experiences, after a yoga class. Do you have a favorite posture? Sketch it! Do you have a favorite class or instructor? Take notes! Do you have a creative idea? Write it down! Use it to determine your favorite style of yoga or enhance your practice. The Yoga Book is also perfect for teacher trainings and yoga workshops! Every page has an inspirational quote, space for the date, style of yoga, and instructor’s name. It also has a glossary of classic yogas. Enjoy!

“The idea for The Yoga Book came to me in a yoga class! I saw it clearly in my mind and I needed somewhere to write it down. Also, I had recently met with an Indian medical doctor, who had said “Different styles of yoga effect people differently, so it is important to know which ‘style of yoga’ is right for you.” So, I decided to create a book, where people could journal about their experiences in a yoga class, write about the different postures – how they felt, get inspired, and write about their insights… Sometimes I would come to class with a problem, any problem, and leave with a solution! And when I did, I’d write it down somewhere, so I decided to create The Yoga Book.”

  1. Great ideas, especially bullets and first link, but many good ideas in the second even for those not working.
